Let’s be honest. You’ve seen so many solar panel brands that they’re starting to blur together.
They all say the same things. “High efficiency.” “Reliable.” “Great value.”
You want solar that works harder, lasts longer, and looks good on your roof.
At PSC, we break down the tech, design, and long-term value in a simple, honest, and helpful way. Whether you’re a homeowner, a business owner, or just solar-curious, this will give you what you need to make a confident decision.
In this article, you will learn about the following:
- What is AIKO’s ABC Neostar Solar Panel?
- AIKO Solar Panels: Efficiency, Safety, Performance, and Warranty
- Partial Shading? AIKO ABC Solar Panels Still Perform
By the end, you’ll see what sets AIKO apart from the rest without needing an engineering degree to understand it.
What is AIKO’s ABC Neostar Solar Panel?
AIKO isn’t a new company. It started in 2009 and has grown into the second-largest solar cell manufacturer in the world. That means when you buy a panel from another brand, there’s a good chance it already contains AIKO solar cells. One in ten panels worldwide contains them.
But now, AIKO is doing something different. Instead of selling solar cells to other brands, AIKO now builds full solar panels using its own advanced cell technology.
These new panels use something called ABC technology. That stands for All Back Contact, and it’s an amazing innovation. Let’s look at why.
What Is ABC Technology?
Most solar panels have metal lines on the front. These are the silver grid lines you’ve probably seen. They generate current in the panel, but they also block some sunlight.
AIKO’s ABC panels have no grid lines on the front. All the electrical contacts sit on the back. That’s why it’s called “All Back Contact.” With nothing on the front to block light, the panel absorbs more sunlight and creates more power.
What that means for you:
- Better efficiency: The panel turns more sunlight into usable electricity.
- Better appearance: The panels are completely black and look sleek on your roof. We love this.
- Better shading performance: They keep working even when part of the panel is shaded.

AIKO Solar Panels: Efficiency, Safety, Performance, and Warranty
AIKO doesn’t just talk about high efficiency. They deliver it.
Efficiency:
- Current efficiency: Up to 23.8% on residential panels. Most competitors are around 21%.
- More power per square metre: AIKO panels hit 238.5W/m², compared to about 219.5W/m² from standard brands.
That means you get more energy from fewer panels. It’s ideal if you have limited roof space or just want to make the most of your system’s output.
Temperature Coefficient:
Australia gets hot. Really hot. And heat can reduce the performance of most solar panels.
However, AIKO panels have a lower temperature coefficient of -0.26%, compared to -0.29% or -0.30% from other brands. This means when temperatures rise, AIKO panels lose less efficiency. Over time, that adds up to more electricity and lower power bills.
Panel Degradation:
- Year 1 degradation: 1% (same as everyone else)
- Year 2 onward: Only 0.35% per year (others are around 0.4%)
- After 25 years: AIKO panels hold 90.6% of their original output
- After 30 years: Still producing at 87.4%
AIKO panels run cooler and safer than most. Traditional panels can hit 150°C under extreme conditions, which increases fire risk.
AIKO’s design limits heat buildup and offers better protection against hotspots, making it safer for homes in bushfire-prone areas.
Warranty:
AIKO offers one of the best warranties in the industry:
- 25-year product warranty – manufacturing defects and the like.
- 30-year performance warranty – how well the panels are still performing after 30 years
That means that your panels are guaranteed to produce strong, stable energy for three full decades. You’re not just buying solar; you’re investing in long-term savings.
Durability:
AIKO panels are not just efficient; they’re tough.
Most solar panels can crack under hail or stress. AIKO’s back-contact design gives the solar cell 300 times more strength because it’s supported fully from the back. That makes it more resistant to microcracks, hail impact, and handling damage.
Tested and Proven:
- Withstands 40mm hailstones (the standard is 25mm)
- Certified for cyclones, heavy snow, and harsh weather conditions

Partial Shading? AIKO ABC Solar Panels Still Perform
In real life, your roof isn’t always in full sunlight. Trees cast shadows. Leaves fall. A bird might leave something behind. And with most solar panels, even a small amount of shade can cause a significant drop in performance.
This is because the cells inside the panel connect together in such a way that if one cell gets blocked by shade, it can affect the others around it. In most cases, shading one small part can lower the output of the entire third of a solar panel.
Aiko panels are built to avoid this problem.
They use cell-level shading optimisation, which means the panel is designed so that only the shaded part loses power. The rest of the panel keeps working normally.
So, if one corner is covered by a leaf or shaded by a tree in the morning, the rest of the panel still produces energy.
This makes a big difference over time. You get more consistent performance during the day and don’t lose as much energy to everyday issues like shadows, dirt, or debris.
