By the end of this article, you’ll learn how to get up to $1,500 back when you install a Tesla Powerwall 3 or a Powerwall 3 Expansion. You’ll understand how the rebate works, how to qualify, and how to avoid missing out.
Let’s start with a quick recap of the Powerwall 3 itself.
What is Tesla Powerwall?
The Tesla Powerwall is a solar battery you can install at home to store electricity. It helps you save money, use more solar power, and keep your home running during blackouts. The latest model is called Powerwall 3. It’s stronger, smarter, and easier to install than earlier versions.
Here’s how it works:
- If you have solar panels, Powerwall 3 stores the extra energy your home doesn’t use during the day.
- That stored power can run your home at night or during cloudy weather.
- If you don’t have solar, it can charge from the grid when electricity is cheaper, like overnight.
- Then it powers your home during the day when electricity costs more.
Powerwall 3 also works as a backup when the power goes out. If the grid goes down, your Powerwall turns on in less than a second. It keeps essential things like your fridge, lights, and Wi-Fi running.
Some of the best parts of Powerwall 3 include:
- All-in-one design: The battery, inverter, and other components come in one box, making installation simpler.
- Works with or without solar: You don’t need to have solar panels to get the benefits.
- Fits many homes: It’s designed for everyday families who want more control over their power.
- Fast switchover during blackouts: It keeps your home running smoothly if the grid fails.
You can also add more storage if needed. Tesla makes a Powerwall 3 Expansion unit. It connects to your main Powerwall 3 and provides additional battery capacity without duplicating the parts you already have.
Both the Powerwall 3 and the Powerwall 3 Expansion count toward Tesla’s new rebate offer. This means you can save even more money when you install one or two units at your home.
Powerwall gives you more control over your electricity use. It lowers your bills, protects your home during blackouts, and helps you make better use of clean energy.
Now that you can get up to $1,500 back through the rebate, there’s even more reason to install one.

How the Powerwall 3 Rebate Works
Tesla is offering a rebate for people who install Powerwall 3 or Powerwall 3 Expansion units in Australia. You can get $750 back per unit, up to a total of $1,500.
This means if you install one Powerwall 3, you’ll get $750. If you install two units (either two full Powerwalls or one Powerwall and one Expansion), you’ll get $1,500.
When You Need to Act
To qualify, you need to follow the exact order and installation dates:
- Order your Powerwall 3 between 6 November 2025 and 31 March 2026.
- Install, connect, and register your Powerwall between 1 January 2026 and 30 September 2026.
If you miss either of those deadlines, you won’t be eligible for the rebate.
Are You Eligible? Here’s What You Need to Do
To get the rebate, there are two parts: ordering and installing.
Ordering and Registration
- Order your Powerwall 3 or Powerwall 3 Expansion from a Tesla Certified Installer between 6 November 2025 and 31 March 2026.
- After ordering, visit the rebate portal and register for the rebate by 31 March 2026.
- You’ll need to upload your purchase order or contract and confirm your contact details.
Installation and Submission
- Install, connect, and register your Powerwall(s) between 1 January 2026 and 30 September 2026.

How to Claim the Powerwall Rebate
Tesla has made the rebate process digital, but there are a few steps you must follow.
- First, after ordering your Powerwall from a Tesla Certified Installer, go straight to the rebate portal and click “Register my Rebate.” Don’t wait. You need to do this before 31 March 2026.
- Next, once your Powerwall is installed and connected to the internet, go back to the portal. Use the login details from your registration, then follow the prompts to upload your documents and submit the rebate request.
- After Tesla reviews your request, you’ll receive your rebate by email. This can take up to eight weeks after approval.
You cannot complete this process through the Tesla app. You must use the rebate portal for both registration and final submission.
What If Something Goes Wrong?
If your installation happens after 30 September 2026, you won’t qualify for the rebate, even if you ordered in time. The same is true if your Powerwall is installed but not connected and registered by the deadline.
Delays can cost you the rebate, so make sure your installer knows the timeline.
If your Powerwall is already installed but you didn’t order during the rebate period, you also won’t qualify. This offer only applies to new orders placed between 6 November 2025 and 31 March 2026.
Can I Combine This Rebate with Other Offers?
Yes. You can use this rebate alongside other rebates and programs, like state incentives or electricity provider offers. For example, if you’re eligible for the Cheaper Home Battery Program or a local solar battery rebate, you can stack those savings.
This makes the Powerwall 3 one of the most cost-effective batteries you can buy in 2026.

Wrapping Things Up: Don’t Wait. Rebate.
The Powerwall 3 rebate gives you up to $1,500 in savings, but only for a limited time. The timeline is strict. If you miss a deadline, you miss the rebate.
This is also a good time to act because energy costs are rising, and more homes are switching to solar and battery systems. Adding a Powerwall 3 helps protect you from high-peak prices and outages, and the rebate makes that upgrade more affordable.
To get started, reach out to a Tesla-certified installer like PSC Energy. We can help you check your eligibility, place your order, and make sure your installation is completed on time.
Don’t wait until the last minute. The sooner you act, the more likely you are to qualify and avoid delays. Reach out and get your quote today and lock in up to $1,500 in rebates on your Powerwall 3.
